3 little things I'm working on this summer

anyalouisesmusic
  1. Letting new people in and starting new collaborations – I’ve recently begun working with two creative friends, a videographer and a graphic designer. We’ve started a couple new projects (more on that later!) and even though it was a bit scary to let people into my little world, this journey is allowing me to explore other creative aspects of my business, which has been so much fun. I’m really enjoying this process and I’m looking forward to seeing the results. There’s something quite powerful about watching other people, besides just myself, care about my songs, visions and ideas.

  2. Being more mindful about how I spend my time and energy – This continues to be one of the hardest things for me to do. When I finally have the time I’ve been dreaming of for working on my creative projects, I often end up in a “freeze” state of not knowing where to start or what active steps to take, which ultimately leads to not really starting anything, wasting precious time and procrastinating. I try to set micro-goals for the day and make sure I don’t fill up all my free time with activities, and even though I still often feel overwhelmed, this does seem to help. I know there’s still room for improvement here and I want to get even better at minimizing distractions and being efficient with my time. If anyone has any tips for optimizing this, I wanna know!

  3. Decluttering – I’m in the process of going through a lot of my things in preparation for my trip to California, which can feel overwhelming at times, but I get a huge sense of relief, lightness and usefulness after something gets done or after donating some items. I’m still a ways from adopting the KonMari method, but I can see how decluttering my space is helping me find a small level of mental relief, thus having a positive impact on my productivity and overall sense of happiness.

On the music front, the EP's coming along, slowly but surely. While I try to formulate my exact visions for the two songs we're currently finishing up and send along my notes and comments, Isaiah is starting to work his magic on a fourth track, yay!
